Dr. Randal Haworth, a breast lift/mastopexy specialist practicing in Beverly Hills, performed a vertical mastopexy on this young professional woman who was complaining of "deflated" breasts. Surprisingly, chances of nipple sensitivity change is generally less than those same with a breast augmentation with implants even though incisions are made around the areola and across the breast skin itself.

Dr. Haworth, a breast lift expert, performs a vertical mastopexy in those patients requiring a moderately "powerful" lift. The surgery involves an incision around the areolae ( in turn, making them smaller in diameter) while extending that incision in a "lollipop" fashion vertically from the 6 o'clock position of the Areola down to the inframammary crease. Counterintuitively, even though the vertical component of the mastopexy is potentially more visible than that of a horizontal scar located in the crease (which is part of an anchor-scar mastopexy ), this vertical scar tends to fade very well indeed. No implants were used in this case since the patient wanted a modest result while Haworth felt that she had enough of her own breast tissue to work with.
