This was a transgender patient in her mid 40s who had undergone a breast augmentation a few years back. It was performed "above the muscle" since that is generally a simpler operation for a surgeon to perform. in the initial postoperative period, the breast tends to hang naturally utilizing this approach, however, it has a number of drawbacks. Over time, the incidence of rippling and visibility of the implant is far greater. Additionally, the frequency of capsular contracture as well as bottoming out is far greater as well.

Dr. Haworth, being a breast implant revision specialist in Beverly Hills, replaced first saline implants with "Memory Gel" Mentor silicone implants in the submuscular position (sub pectoral, to be exact).

Notice that the transition from the chest wall into the breast itself is far more natural with a more convincing teardrop shape. The breast not only looks more natural but also feels and behaves more naturally as well. An acellular dermal matrix (Strattice®) was utilized to bolster the breast tissue for added support.
